Indonesia Java International Destination – Central Java – Borobudur Temple

Borobudur Temple located in the Central Java region is one of the popular Indonesia Java International Destination. This is a Buddhist temple which is the biggest of its kind and measures around 123×123 meters and was built in the ninth century. Borobudur temple, an Indonesia Java International Destination is situated in the region of Magelang and is at a distance of 90km from the southeast region of Semarang regency and is at a distance of 42km from the northwest region of Yogyakarta. This temple is one of the ancient monuments and is preserved well by the government as it is visited by many tourists from the local region and from foreign countries. It is recognized as a cultural heritage site all over the world. The architecture of this temple doesn’t find any match in any part of the world. The temple is located on a hilltop and it overlooks distant hills and luxuriant green fields. The material used for constructing this temple is gray andesite stone. The construction consists of seven numbers of terraces and the size of each terrace is smaller than the one below it. The terrace at the top is called the Great Stupa which is at a height of 40 meters above the ground. The walls of this temple extend for a length of 6km. The terraces in the temple look like burial foundations which gives the meaning of final resting place to the founder of the temple who is Syailendra.
